Nowadays, things are drastically changing. Communication and information technologies are changing at the speed of light. To use or not to use social media, that is the question? Honestly, you don’t even have time to ask yourself this question, at least hypothetically. Because everything revolves around being online. We expose our private and business life to the whole world. Otherwise, we don’t exist. That’s the price we have to pay for being on the world’s map.

I’ve come across an interesting definition: ‘Social media is the collective of online communications channels dedicated to community-based input, interaction, content-sharing and collaboration.’

When you think of it, it makes sense.

Like it or not, just accept it, social media is our reality–full stop!

First of all, people share their pictures, contents, messages of love, happiness or sorrow with others on various social platforms. And the main reason is to stay connected with the people you care. We all work too much and can’t find a decent time for other people. There are loads of social surveys about this phenomenon. Like it or not, just accept it, it’s our reality.

On the other hand, when you think about the whole concept more closely, our social media reality resembles the famous film–The Truman Show. Of course, we don’t live fake lives but sometimes the influence of social media is so pressing that you can’t get away from the feeling that someone is constantly watching you. Sounds a bit paranoid, I know.

Still, the whole world is crazy about social platforms. Let’s take Facebook as an example. Facebook was primarily created for students. Now, people of different ages, culture, religion, etc. use Facebook on a daily basis.

Also, if you want to be visible in a business world, let’s face it, you can’t make it without social media. Whatever you’re trying to sell, you need a serious online promotion. Today it’s not just your product or how smart and hard-working you are that makes the difference. Nor even how lucky you are. The best way to promote your business and find the clients is, of course, a wide palette of different social media. It’s  an art, no, much more than that, it’s a pure magic.

Some of the most established companies invest a huge amount of money in their social media marketing.

In addition, according to recent studies, some of the top brands use the most striking social networks such as YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram to promote themselves. I guess their main motivation is–you’re never too big to stop promoting yourself.

That’s why you always have to keep pace with modern technologies. Yes, there are always pros and cons to consider and judge. But, is there anything perfect?
